HySecunda

In the HySecunda research project, practical and scalable solutions with great price reduction potential for the market ramp-up of green hydrogen and its derivatives in the entire SADC region (South Africa Development Community) are being developed on the basis of the HyShiFT large-scale project for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) based on green hydrogen in South Africa and neighboring countries.

This involves driving forward the urgently needed capacity building in the area of training and further qualification for the production of green hydrogen in South Africa and the entire SADC region. In addition, market- and system-oriented solutions are being developed, including for the certification of green hydrogen and its derivatives to secure long-term imports to Germany and Europe. In addition, selected needs of application-oriented basic research for innovative materials and technologies are addressed. This includes developments for innovative sensors for hydrogen detection and the development of barrier and functional coatings for the durability and cost reduction of water electrolysis components and storage systems such as tanks and pipelines.
