UrbanGroundHeat - Heat transition in existing urban neighborhoods

Significantly greater market penetration of heat pump systems in existing buildings is essential if climate targets for the building sector in Germany are to be achieved in the short and medium term. Up to now, the conversion of existing heating systems to heat pump systems in existing buildings has not progressed very far.

The project is part of the joint project: EnEff:Wärme: Toolboxes for the evaluation of geothermal heat supply. The aim of the project is on the one hand the elaboration of feasibility studies for existing quarters of the energy suppliers participating in the project, on the other hand the development of cross-case guidelines and the extension of planning tools and thus the creation of preconditions to implement geothermal projects in existing buildings.
